1 cup chana dal
2 ½ cups water
½ tsp turmeric
¼ tsp red chili
1 tsp salt
1 bay leaf
2 green chilies
½ tsp cumin
½ tsp coriander
¼ tsp red chili
2 small tomato
¾ tsp salt
2 tsp ghee
¼ tsp mustard seeds
2-3 dry red chili
¼ tsp Kashmiri red chili
2 tbsp coriander
1 tbsp lime juice
1 cup whole wheat flour
¼ tsp carom seeds
¼ tsp red chili
¼ tsp turmeric
½ tsp salt
½ tsp cooking oil
¼ cup + 2 tbsp water

Add chana dal, water, turmeric, red chili, salt and bay leaf to pressure cooker and allow four whistles.

Prepare dough by mixing whole wheat flour with carom seeds, turmeric, salt, cooking oil and water.

Knead a soft dough.

Coat dough with oil and set aside to rest for 10 minutes.

Roll out small round sheets and create shape using your fingertips.

Blend the dal inside the pressure cooker using a handheld food processor.

Transfer the dal to a pot and add water, curry leaves, green chilies, cumin, coriander and red chili.

Add chopped tomatoes.

Bring dal to a boil and add the cut-out dough pieces.

Cook for 10-12 minutes.

In a separate pan, add ghee and a pinch of hing along with mustard seeds, dry red chili and Kashmiri red chili for colour.

Stir for a minute then transfer to the pot with dal.

Garnish with coriander and lime juice.
