1

Start by making the dough with 3/4 cup plain flour, 2 tbsp semolina, and 2 to 3 tbsp ghee.

2

Mix the ingredients and gradually add water to make a soft dough.

3

Cover the dough with a wet cloth and let it rest for 15-20 minutes.

4

Prepare the filling by mixing 1/2 cup desiccated coconut, 1 tbsp powdered sugar, 1 tbsp raisins, 1 tbsp cashew nut pieces, 1 tbsp almond pieces, 1/2 tsp cardamom powder, and 1 tbsp poppy seeds.

5

Shape the dough into small balls and keep them covered with a wet cloth.

6

Roll out one ball into a not very thin circle and cut it with a ring to get equal-sized circles.

7

Apply a little water on the edge of the circle.

8

Place a teaspoon of the filling in the center and seal the edges properly by pressing them together.

9

Shape the edge by pressing and folding it inside, then press the tip that comes out again and fold it.

10

Heat medium hot oil for frying and fry the gujiyas on a slow flame until they are golden brown, flipping them over as needed.

11

Remove the gujiyas from the oil and let them drain.
