Originating from the Philippines, Mango Sago Dessert is a beloved treat that showcases the tropical flavors of ripe mangoes and creamy coconut. Traditionally enjoyed during hot weather, it reflects the country's rich culinary heritage. Today, this dessert has gained popularity in various Asian cuisines, often featuring in celebrations and gatherings.
Soak sago pearls in water for at least 2 hours or overnight.
Drain and rinse the soaked sago pearls under cold water.
Boil water in a pot and add the drained sago pearls.
Cook the sago pearls until they turn translucent, about 15-20 minutes.
Stir occasionally to prevent sticking. Add water if needed.
Once cooked, drain the sago and rinse under cold water to stop cooking.
Peel and dice the mango into small cubes.
In a bowl, combine coconut milk, condensed milk, sugar, and a pinch of salt.
Mix well until the sugar dissolves completely.
Add the cooked sago pearls and diced mango to the coconut mixture.
Stir gently to combine all ingredients.
Chill the dessert in the refrigerator for at least 1 hour before serving.
Serve in small bowls and enjoy chilled.
