🥗Healthier: brown rice

💰Cheaper: parboiled rice

Brown rice offers more fiber and nutrients, while parboiled rice is often less expensive.

1

Add about 1 tablespoon of canola oil into a pot and heat it on high (10).

2

Add 4 cups of long grain rice to the pot and fry it for about 2 to 3 minutes until the rice starts to look whiter and you can hear it frying.

3

Add about 1/2 tablespoon of salt to the rice in the pot.

4

Add water until it is at least 1 inch to 1.5 inches above the rice, using your finger or a spoon to measure.

5

Bring the pot to a boil and then reduce the heat to 7 (medium-high).

6

Monitor the boiling; if it boils too much, lower the heat to 6 to prevent burning.

7

Once the water starts evaporating and holes appear in the rice, lower the heat to 1 and cover the pot.

8

Let the rice cook covered for approximately 30 minutes until done.
