This hearty soup is known for its unique white color, achieved by using yam as a thickener instead of traditional palm oil. It holds cultural significance as a symbol of hospitality and is often served to guests. Today, Nsala Soup has found its way into homes across Nigeria and beyond, with variations that include different types of fish or meat, reflecting local tastes and ingredient availability.

Pre-cook your meat and any protein you want to use for the soup.
Cut the potato into pieces.
Blend the potato with a little bit of water until smooth and set aside.
In a pot, add the pre-cooked meat and begin cooking.
Add the blended potato to the pot along with egg room and crayfish.
Add the smoked fish and cover the pot to cook for 3 to 5 minutes.
After 5 minutes, add salt and a little bit of okazi (or substitute) and stir.
Add pepper for color and mix everything together.
Add the chicken breast to the pot.
Cover the pot and let it cook for another 5 minutes.
Add utazi to the soup.
Add no cube to enhance flavor.
Finally, add tilapia and a little bit of spinach for color.
