Soak the rinsed rice in water for 20-25 minutes.

In a pot, add the soaked rice and enough water to cover it (2-3 cups).

Add 2 teaspoons of salt and 1 tablespoon of oil to the pot.

Add a 1-inch piece of cinnamon stick and a green chili with a cut to release flavor.

Cover the pot and bring to a boil over high heat.

Once boiling, reduce the heat and simmer for 4-5 minutes.

Turn off the heat and let the rice sit covered for 15-20 minutes to steam.

After steaming, fluff the rice gently with a spoon, being careful not to break the grains.
