This savory pastry, filled with spiced meat and vegetables, reflects the rich culinary traditions of Ghana, showcasing the use of local ingredients and flavors. Today, variations of the pie can be found in many West African countries, each adding their unique twist to this delightful treat.

Honey is a natural sweetener, while brown sugar can be more affordable.
In a mixing bowl, add flour, sugar, grated nutmeg, vanilla extract, baking powder, and salt; mix until combined.
Add margarine (or butter) and mix with a fork until it forms a breadcrumbs consistency.
Add an egg, cream cheese, and milk; mix until well combined.
Divide the dough into two equal parts; keep one aside and add red food color to the other part (optional).
Roll out the uncolored dough into a square shape and cut off the excess.
Brush the top of the rolled dough with water before placing the red dough on top.
Roll the red dough to the same size as the uncolored dough and cut off the excess.
Press the dough to flatten slightly and brush the top with an egg wash.
Cut into smaller pieces and bake at 180°C for 25-30 minutes.
