2 pinch asafoetida
½ tsp cumin seeds
2-3 tbsp chopped onion
1 tsp chopped garlic
1 tsp chopped ginger
3-4 green chilli
1 tsp salt
1 tsp red chilli powder
1 tsp coriander powder
¼ tsp turmeric powder
½ tsp kashmiri mirch
2 tomato chopped
1 cup arhar dal (200 g)
coriander leaves

Heat ghee or oil in a pan.

Add red chillies, asafoetida, and cumin seeds; sauté until fragrant.

Stir in chopped onion, garlic, and ginger; cook until onions are translucent.

Add green chillies, salt, red chilli powder, coriander powder, turmeric powder, and kashmiri mirch; mix well.

Add chopped tomatoes and cook until soft.

Add arhar dal and enough water; bring to a boil and then simmer until dal is cooked through.
