Today, these meat pies are cherished by many, both in Ghana and among the diaspora, as a comforting reminder of home.

Chop 3.5 medium onions into small cubes.
Heat a pan on medium-low heat and add a little olive oil.
Add chopped onions to the pan and sauté for 1 minute.
Add 0.5 teaspoons black pepper, vegetable seasoning, and cumin seeds to the onions and stir to combine.
Add minced beef to the pan and season with 1 teaspoon black pepper, shrimp seasoning, fennel powder, white pepper, and salt.
Add 2 tablespoons of minced garlic, ginger, and onion paste, and 1 tablespoon vegetable seasoning.
Stir everything together while breaking up the beef with a spatula.
Turn the heat to very low and allow the mixture to simmer.
In a large bowl, add 800 grams of flour, 1.5 teaspoons nutmeg, and 0.5 teaspoons salt; stir to combine.
Add cold butter and crush it with a fork, then mix with fingertips until crumbly.
Add 1 tablespoon of minced onion and cold whole milk in bits until the dough binds together.
Wrap the dough in plastic wrap and refrigerate for 30 to 40 minutes.
Add water to 1 tablespoon of cornstarch and mix it into the filling.
Add the rest of the chopped onions to the filling and fry for 30 seconds.
Line a baking tray with baking sheet or flour to prevent sticking.
Divide the dough into manageable sizes and roll it out without mashing it.
Cut the dough into circles using a round object or pie mold.
Add filling to one half of the dough, leaving space at the edge.
Smear water on the bottom edge of the dough and fold the other half over.
Seal the edges by making small holes with fingers.
Create holes in the top of the pie for steam to escape.
Smear the surface of the pie with milk or egg for a glossy finish.
Transfer the pies to the lined baking tray and bake in a preheated oven at 200 degrees Celsius for 15 to 25 minutes.
