Slice the bread roll in half lengthwise.
Spread mustard on the inside of both halves of the roll.
Layer lettuce, tomato, and onion on the bottom half of the roll.
Place the cooked steak on top of the vegetables.
Add cheese and pickles if desired.
Cover with the top half of the roll and press gently.
Serve immediately while warm.
