Let the dough rest for 30 minutes covered with a cloth.
Preheat a waffle iron to medium heat.
Divide the dough into small balls and flatten them slightly.
Place the flattened dough into the waffle iron and cook until golden, about 2-3 minutes.
Remove the waffle and let it cool slightly.
Spread syrup evenly on one waffle half.
Top with another waffle half to create a sandwich.
Press gently to seal and allow to cool completely.
