1

Add 2/3 cup milk, 4 tablespoons butter, and 3 tablespoons heavy cream into a pan.

2

Heat the mixture on medium until the butter melts, ensuring the temperature does not exceed 120°F.

3

Use a thermometer to monitor the temperature; turn off the burner if it exceeds 120°F and let it cool.

4

Once the temperature is around 115°F, add 1 tablespoon sugar and 3/4 tablespoon salt to the mixture and stir to dissolve.

5

Pour the milk mixture into the bread machine, ensuring all of it is included.

6

Add 2 cups of bread machine flour on top of the liquid in the bread machine.

7

Make a well in the flour and add 1 3/4 teaspoons active dry yeast into the well.

8

Close the lid of the bread machine and select the dough cycle (number 7). Press start and let it run for 1 hour and 20 minutes.

9

Once the dough is done, grease a bowl and take the dough out, loosely covering it with a clean kitchen towel.

10

Shape the dough into balls and flatten them slightly; let them rise a bit before frying.

11

In a frying pan, heat lard until melted; ensure there is enough lard to fry the dough.

12

Optionally, make a hole in the center of the dough for a donut shape.

13

Fry the dough pieces until golden brown on one side, then flip them over to fry the other side.

14

Check for doneness by looking for a golden color; remove from the oil and drain on paper towels.

15

Serve with syrup on top.
