Cut off the ends of the lime to remove some pith.

Cut the lime in half and then into quarters.

Remove excess pith from the inside of the lime quarters.

Place six of the eight lime quarters into a mixing glass.

Add 2 teaspoons of turbinado sugar to the mixing glass.

Muddle the lime and sugar together to extract juice without pulverizing the lime.

Add 2 oz of cachaça to the mixing glass.

Fill the mixing glass with lightly crushed ice to the top.

Give the mixture a few brisk shakes to combine without overdiluting.

Dump the cocktail into a double old fashioned glass and add more ice on top if desired.
