Chop the onion into small pieces and set aside.

Peel and prepare 3 cloves of garlic.

In a large pot or skillet over medium-high heat, add 1 tablespoon of butter and 1 tablespoon of cooking oil.

Add the chopped onion to the pot and sauté until softened, about 2-3 minutes.

Add 1.5 pounds of ground beef to the pot, breaking it apart, and cook until browned.

Drain the ground beef and then add the garlic, cooking for an additional 30 seconds to 1 minute.

Increase the heat to high and bring the mixture to a boil, tasting and seasoning with salt and black pepper to your preference (about 1/4 teaspoon each).

Break the ramen noodles into pieces and add all 3 packages to the boiling mixture, stirring to combine.
