The dish has evolved over the years and is now popular in many countries, often featuring variations in ingredients and preparation methods. Traditionally, it consists of sautéed beef in a creamy sauce, served over noodles or rice, making it a comforting meal.

Turn the Instant Pot to high sauté mode.
Add 2 tablespoons of butter and 1 small onion to the pot.
Add 1 pound of ground beef and cook until the butter melts, separating the beef as it cooks.
Add seasonings: 1/2 teaspoon of salt, 1/4 teaspoon of pepper, 1/4 teaspoon of garlic powder, and 1/4 teaspoon of onion granules; stir to combine.
Add 8 oz of mushrooms cut into bite-sized pieces.
Add 8 oz of egg noodles on top of the mixture.
Pour in 3 cups of beef broth, ensuring the noodles are just barely covered.
Put the lid on the Instant Pot and cancel the sauté mode.
Set to high pressure for 4 minutes and wait for it to beep.
Once at pressure, allow it to cook for 4 minutes.
After cooking, slowly release the pressure, directing the steam away gently.
Remove the lid and check the noodles; they should be cooked.
Add sour cream to the mixture and adjust the consistency with a cornstarch slurry if needed.
Let the dish set for about 5 minutes to absorb excess liquid before serving.
Plate the beef stroganoff and garnish with green onion tops.
