They are commonly served at celebrations and family gatherings, showcasing the communal spirit of Honduran cuisine. Today, pastelitos have gained popularity beyond Honduras, with variations appearing in various Latin American countries.

Prepare ingredients: 1.5 pounds of ground beef, 1 pound of rice, 2 cloves of garlic, 1/4 small onion, green chili, red chili, cilantro, cumin, black pepper, chicken bouillon, paprika, salt, jalapeño, and tomato sauce.
Chop the green chili, red chili, onion, and cilantro. Set aside.
In a pan, heat the ground beef without adding oil, as it contains enough fat.
Add the chopped vegetables (onion, green chili, red chili) to the beef and mix well.
Season the mixture with cumin, black pepper, and salt to taste.
Cook until the beef releases its juices and begins to brown.
Add paprika for color and mix well.
Add the rice to the beef mixture and stir to combine.
Pour in approximately 1.5 cups of water, checking the consistency as it cooks.
Cover the pan and reduce heat to medium-low, allowing the rice to cook through.
In another pot, heat oil and sauté chopped jalapeño and a crushed garlic clove for the sauce.
Add chopped tomatoes to the pot and cook until they break down into a sauce.
Stir in half a can of tomato sauce and a bit of water to reduce acidity.
Season the sauce with black pepper, cumin, and chicken bouillon. Let it simmer.
Once the rice is cooked and fluffy, add chopped cilantro and mix gently.
For the dough, combine approximately 12 ounces of corn flour with a teaspoon of salt and paprika.
Gradually add hot water to the flour until a dough forms, ensuring it's not too wet or too dry.
Shape the dough into small tortillas for the pastelitos.
