Cut the edges off the bread slices (optional).
Cut the bread into small pieces.
In a pan, add 1 cup sugar and 1 cup water to make sugar syrup.
Cook the sugar syrup on low heat until the sugar dissolves completely.
Add 2 crushed green cardamom to the syrup for flavor.
Add food coloring to the syrup if desired, or skip it if you don't want it.
Cook the syrup for 8 to 10 minutes until it reaches a one-string consistency.
To check the consistency, take a drop of syrup and see if it forms a single thread when pulled apart.
In another pan, heat 1 tablespoon of ghee until melted.
Add the bread pieces to the ghee and toast them on low heat until they are golden brown and crispy on both sides.
Once the bread is toasted, remove it from the pan and place it in a bowl.
Pour the sugar syrup over the toasted bread pieces, coating them well but not soaking them for too long.
Serve the sweet bread immediately.
