Today, pastelitos have gained popularity beyond Honduras, with variations appearing in various Latin American countries.

Poner a hervir agua para cocinar la carne.
Agregar consomé de pollo, apio, ajos, cebolla, especias y sal al agua hirviendo.
Agregar la carne para deshebrar al agua hirviendo.
Cocinar la carne hasta que esté bien blandita.
Retirar la carne y dejar enfriar para desmenuzarla.
Desmenuzar la carne en pedacitos pequeños.
Guardar el agua de cocción de la carne para usarla más tarde.
En una freidora, agregar aceite de coco y sofreír 1 taza de arroz blanco previamente lavado.
Agregar una parte de la carne desmenuzada al arroz y mezclar bien.
Agregar agua de la cocción de la carne, usando un poco más de 1 taza de agua.
Condimentar con un poco de sal y tapar para cocinar.
Preparar una salsa de tomate sofriendo margarina, tomate, cebolla y chile dulce.
Agregar 1 lata de salsa de tomate a la mezcla y mezclar bien.
Agregar 1.5 latas del agua de cocción de la carne a la salsa.
Condimentar la salsa con sal, especias, 1 cucharada de azúcar y salsa dulce o ketchup.
Dejar hervir la salsa y agregar culantro picado al final.
Para la masa, mezclar 2 tazas de agua tibia con especias, consomé de pollo y sal.
Deshacer un poco de achote en un poco de agua.
Agregar 1 taza de harina de maíz pan y luego el achote.
Agregar poco a poco más harina hasta obtener una masa bien amasada y sin grumos.
Formar pelotitas de masa, aplastarlas, agregar el relleno y sellarlas bien.
Calentar el aceite a temperatura media y freír un pastelito de prueba.
Voltear el pastelito de prueba cuando esté dorado y agregar el resto de los pastelitos al aceite.
Freír los pastelitos hasta que estén dorados, dándoles vuelta a tiempo.
Si los pastelitos se abren, puede ser porque el relleno está caliente o la masa no está bien amasada.
Servir los pastelitos al gusto, acompañándolos con lo que prefiera.
