Advocaat has gained popularity beyond the Netherlands, with variations appearing in other countries, but its rich, creamy texture and sweet flavor remain a hallmark of this beloved drink.

Separate the yolks from the whites of 10 eggs, placing the yolks in a mixing bowl and saving the whites in a Tupperware container.
Measure out 1/2 teaspoon of salt and add it to the mixing bowl with the yolks.
Measure 1 and 1/3 cups of sugar and add it to the mixing bowl.
Take a vanilla bean, split it lengthwise, and scrape the seeds into the mixing bowl, then whisk the mixture until it thickens and resembles cake frosting.
Measure out 1 and 1/2 cups of brandy and slowly add it to the mixture while whisking continuously until it becomes runnier.
Transfer the mixture to a pot, adding the scraped vanilla bean pods, and heat on low while stirring continuously for several minutes until it coats the back of a spoon.
Prepare a mixing bowl filled with ice water and dunk the pot into it, continuing to stir until the surface of the pot is cooled to the touch.
Strain the mixture into a measuring cup, then pour it into a sealable bottle, pop on the lid, and refrigerate to cool before serving.
