Slovak Goulash Soup

Modern variations may include different meats or vegetables, and it is commonly served with bread or dumplings, making it a comforting meal in colder months.

Heat 1 tbsp of vegetable oil and 2-3 tbsp of mantaka in a pot until melted.
Add chopped onions and lower the temperature to avoid burning, cooking for 2-3 minutes until translucent.
Add the beef and stir well, browning on all sides.
Stir in 1.5 tbsp of red paprika and black pepper, mixing thoroughly.
Add 200 ml of water and stir well, scraping the bottom of the pot.
Cover and simmer for 45 minutes on medium-low heat.
Check the meat for tenderness; if it's soft, proceed, otherwise cook longer.
Dust in 2 tbsp of all-purpose flour and mix well, adding more liquid if necessary.
Add 1 tbsp of tomato paste and mix well.
Add diced potatoes and carrots, mixing thoroughly.
Add more than 500 ml of water and adjust the heat to bring to a boil.
Add crushed red pepper and margarm, then lower the temperature and cook until vegetables are soft.
Add 1 beef stock cube, crushing it into the soup and stirring well.
Continue cooking until the vegetables are tender, about 10-15 minutes.
