Dry roast the rice till it changes its colour to light brown.

After cool down to room temperature and grind in a mixie to a coarse mixture.

Now, heat a kadai or pan add water, when the water starts to boil, reduce the heat and add crushed cardamoms and salt.

Then add the ground rice powder to it and mix thoroughly without lumps.

Now reduce the heat to low flame and allow it to cook. It takes a couple of minutes to cook as the rice has already been roasted.

When it’s done, remove the pan from heat and let it cool down till you can tolerate its heat while rolling.

Take small portion and roll into balls, then roll over the coconut grating so that the balls get a generous share.
