The meat pie is a beloved Australian staple, often enjoyed at sporting events and family gatherings. Its origins can be traced back to British settlers, who brought their pie-making traditions to Australia. Today, variations abound, with fillings ranging from traditional minced meat to gourmet options, reflecting the diverse culinary landscape of the country.

Add flour, baking powder, and salt into a bowl.
Add margarine and mix with fingertips until the mixture resembles bread crumbs.
Gradually add 1 cup of cold water, mixing until the dough reaches the right consistency.
Knead the dough and divide it into two halves, flattening one half to about one-third thickness.
In a pan, heat oil and add chopped onions and chopped carrots, followed by ground beef.
Season with salt, onion powder, and seasoning powder to taste.
Make a flour slurry by mixing 1 tablespoon of flour with a little water, then add it to the meat mixture.
Adjust the thickness of the filling by adding more water if necessary.
Trim the edges of the dough for a smooth coat.
Use a cookie cutter to make circles in the dough.
Grease a baking pan with margarine.
Scoop the filling into the circular pastries and fold over to cover, sealing with a fork.
Preheat the oven and place the pastries on a baking tray.
Make openings on the meat pie if desired.
Mix egg yolk with 1 tablespoon of milk and brush it over the pastries.
Bake in the oven for 45 minutes.
