1/4 cup cold water
1 large egg

1

Boil the Irish potatoes with a little bit of salt until very soft.

2

Check the potatoes to ensure they are done and soft.

3

In a clean pot on the stove, add vegetable oil and diced onions, then add the meat.

4

Stir the meat and onions together until the meat changes color to brown.

5

Add seasonings of your choice to the meat mixture.

6

Add the cooked potatoes and carrots to the meat mixture, along with a little bit of water to cook the carrots.

7

Measure 500g of all-purpose flour, 1 teaspoon of baking powder, and half a teaspoon of nutmeg in a bowl.

8

Add 1 teaspoon of milk flavor and mix until the mixture resembles breadcrumbs.

9

Add very cold water bit by bit to the flour mixture until it comes together, being careful not to overmix.

10

Wrap the dough in plastic wrap and place it in the fridge for about 10 minutes.

11

Check the meat pie filling; if it has thickened and cooled down, it is ready to use.

12

Dust the working surface with flour to prevent sticking and cut the dough into portions.

13

Roll out each portion of dough into a round disc.

14

Use a pie cutter or a round object to cut out the dough shapes.

15

Apply egg wash to the edges of the dough to help seal it.

16

Add the meat filling to the center of the dough and fold it over to close.

17

Place the filled pies on a baking tray coated with margarine or vegetable oil.

18

Brush the tops of the pies with egg wash.

19

Bake in a preheated oven at medium heat for 25 to 30 minutes until golden brown.
