Bahamian Guava Duff Rolls

Prepare a bowl and a sieve for the ingredients.
Add 3 heaping cups of all-purpose flour to a mixing bowl.
Measure and add 1/2 cup of sugar to the flour.
Add 1/2 teaspoon of salt to the mixture.
Use a 1/3 cup scoop to measure and add 1/3 cup of baking powder to the bowl.
Mix the dry ingredients (flour, sugar, baking powder, salt) together with a whisk.
Peel the skin off of 3 frozen guavas and separate the seeds from the flesh using a spoon.
Wash the guava flesh and cut it up, placing the seeds in a separate bowl for later use in the sauce.
Add 1 egg to the flour mixture.
Pour in 1/2 cup of evaporated milk.
Add water to the mixture, combining it with your hands to form a dough.
Add more flour as needed to prevent sticking, working the dough until it is not sticky.
Prepare the guava filling by adding 1 tablespoon of sugar to the guava flesh and mixing it together.
Roll out the dough and place the guava filling in the center.
Wrap the dough around the guava filling, ensuring it is sealed.
Prepare a cloth (like a ripped pillowcase) to wrap the dough for boiling.
Place the wrapped dough in a pot of water and bring it to a boil, cooking for 1 hour to 1 hour and 45 minutes.
While the dough is boiling, prepare the sauce by straining the guava seeds from the pulp.
In a separate bowl, cream together 1/2 cup of unsalted butter and 1 cup of sugar until fluffy.
Add 2 eggs to the butter and sugar mixture, mixing well after each addition.
Incorporate 2 tablespoons of vanilla extract into the mixture.
Fold in the strained guava pulp into the sauce mixture until combined.
