Mention that this is a quick and easy weeknight meal called hamburger stroganoff.
Show the ingredients: 1.5 pounds of ground beef, 1 large onion, 12 ounces of egg noodles, 4 tablespoons of salted butter, sliced mushrooms, 1 heaping teaspoon of jarred garlic, 1 can of cream of chicken soup, parsley, salt, black pepper, and all-purpose flour.
Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat and add 4 tablespoons of salted butter until melted.
Add the diced onion to the skillet and sauté until translucent, about 3-4 minutes.
Add 1 heaping teaspoon of jarred garlic and cook for about 1 minute until fragrant.
Add the ground beef to the skillet, breaking it up with a wooden spoon, and cook until browned, stirring occasionally.
Season the beef with salt while cooking and cover to help it cook evenly.
Once the beef is browned, add all-purpose flour to the mixture and stir to combine, cooking for a few minutes to eliminate the raw flour taste.
Drain the oil from the sliced mushrooms and add them to the skillet, stirring to combine.
Season the mixture with salt and black pepper to taste, and let it cook uncovered for 3-5 minutes to cook out the flour taste.
Add 1 can of cream of chicken soup to the skillet and mix well, reducing the heat to medium.
Boil water in a separate pot for the egg noodles and add 12 ounces of noodles, cooking for 7-10 minutes until al dente.
Stir the beef mixture occasionally while the noodles cook, ensuring nothing sticks to the bottom of the skillet.
Once the noodles are cooked, drain them and add them directly to the beef mixture, stirring to combine everything well.
Add sour cream to the mixture, using about 3/4 cup, and stir until well incorporated.
