Prepare the cake pan with melted butter and flour to prevent sticking.
In a small bowl, combine 1 1/4 cups of all-purpose flour and 1/2 teaspoon of baking powder.
In another bowl, whisk together 1 1/4 cups of sugar, 1 egg, and 1 1/2 teaspoons of almond extract.
Add 2/3 cup of milk to the sugar and egg mixture and stir until smooth.
Gradually add the flour mixture to the liquid mixture, folding until combined.
Add 1/2 cup of melted butter and mix until well combined.
Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan, filling it about 3/4 full.
Bake in the oven for around 15 minutes.
Let the cake cool completely before loosening the edges and removing it from the pan.
For the frosting, mix 3/4 cup of powdered sugar with 1 1/2 to 2 tablespoons of milk and 1/2 teaspoon of vanilla extract until desired consistency is reached.
Drizzle the frosting over the cooled cake and sprinkle sliced almonds on top.
