Remove the heads from the shrimp.
Use a piece of stale bread for the recipe.
Melt palm oil in a double boiler.
Chop the bread and place it in a blender.
Add coconut milk to the blender to soften the bread.
Add chopped onion, frozen green onions, and garlic to the blender.
Add a bit of water to the blender (using a bottle cap as a measure).
Do not add salt because the dried shrimp is already salty.
Blend all the ingredients until smooth.
Add palm oil to the blended mixture and blend again.
Add turmeric to the mixture for color and flavor.
Pour the mixture into a pot and stir continuously while cooking.
Add black pepper to taste while stirring.
Continue stirring until the mixture thickens and reaches the desired consistency.
Transfer the vatapá to a serving dish and let it cool to thicken further.
