To a large bowl, add the flour, baking powder, and salt. Mix until combined.

Make a well in the center, add an egg, the melted butter, and milk. Whisk the liquids together in the center, and then bring in the dry ingredients to mix, creating a thick batter.

Add onions, shallot, salted codfish, salt and pepper. Mix again until one homogenous mixture.

Using an ice-cream scoop, scoop 1-2 oz balls of batter and drop into hot oil at 375° F (190°C).

Cook for about three to four minutes, flipping halfway through until they are golden brown on both sides and cooked in the center.

Remove from the pan and drain on absorbent paper. Serve hot.
