Dutch Kruidnoten aka Pepernoten recipe | Crispy cookies

Sift together flour, baking powder, 1 tsp anise, 1 tsp nutmeg, 1 tsp ginger, 1 tbsp cinnamon, 1 tbsp cardamom, and 1 tbsp ground cloves.

Sift all dry ingredients together with salt and brown sugar.

Mix softened butter, syrup, milk, and orange zest.

Combine all ingredients and knead into a ball.

Cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate for 20 minutes.

Preheat the oven to 175 C.

Remove the plastic wrap, divide the dough, and roll it.

Cut into small equal pieces and form into small balls.

Place on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.

Bake in the oven for 15-18 minutes at 175 C.

Let them cool on the baking sheet for 10 minutes.

Add candy and mix.
