1 tsp cumin
3 dried red chilies
3 cloves garlic
1 small onion
1 tsp turmeric powder
1 large tomato
1 cup soaked moong dal
1 cup chopped carrot
1 tbsp roasted cumin powder
1 cup water
salt to taste

Heat 2 tbsp oil in a kadhai.

Add 1 tbsp mustard seeds and 1/2 tbsp urad dal.

Add 1 tsp cumin and 3 dried red chilies.

Add 3 cloves of chopped garlic and 1 small chopped onion; fry until the onion is brown.

Mix in 1 tsp turmeric powder and 1 large chopped tomato.

Add 1 cup of soaked moong dal (soaked for 15 minutes) and 1 cup of chopped carrot.

Add 1 tbsp roasted cumin powder and 1 cup of water; mix well.

Cover and cook for 20 minutes.

Add salt to taste and garnish with curry leaves and cilantro.
