List the ingredients: 1/2 cup oat, 1 cup millet, 1 cup Guinea corn, 1 1/2 cup maize, 1 cup date, 1 cup soybeans, and 1/2 cup groundnuts.
Wash all ingredients except for the oats.
Cook the soybeans for about 20 to 30 minutes after washing them.
Rinse the dates to remove dust before breaking them to remove the seeds.
Drain the washed corn and other ingredients.
Run cold water over the cooked soybeans to wash off the skin.
Transfer the soybeans to a basket to drain water and leave to dry for 1 to 2 hours.
Roast the Guinea corn for about 10 minutes until it becomes lighter and starts popping.
Roast the millet in the same way as the Guinea corn until it pops.
Roast the corn until it starts popping slightly, indicating it's ready to be taken off the heat.
Roast the groundnuts until dry, and then rub them to remove the skin.
Mix all roasted ingredients in a larger bowl before grinding.
Dry the dates in the oven before adding them to the mixture.
Grind the mixture into a fine powder using a grinder, saving and re-grinding as necessary until smooth.
Allow the ground powder to cool before transferring it to an airtight container for storage.
To make porridge, scoop 4 to 5 tablespoons of Tom Brown powder into a plate for two servings.
Add room temperature water to the powder and mix until no lumps remain.
Boil some water and transfer the mixed Tom Brown powder into it, stirring until it thickens.
Adjust the consistency by adding more water if it becomes too thick.
