Its modern variations have gained popularity beyond India, with many experimenting with different flavors and ingredients, making it a delightful dessert enjoyed by many worldwide.

Melt 1 tablespoon of ghee in a large heavy-bottomed or non-stick pan over medium-low heat.
Pour in 3/4 cup of milk and stir until it comes to a gentle boil.
Add 1 cup of milk powder and mix until smooth and lump-free.
Keep on low heat for about 5 minutes until slightly thickened.
Add 1 cup of dulce de leche and stir continuously for 10 to 12 minutes on low heat.
Turn off the heat and sprinkle in 1/2 teaspoon of cardamom powder and 1-2 tablespoons of sliced almonds.
Continue cooking and stirring until the mixture thickens and leaves the pan easily.
Prepare a tray by greasing or lining it with parchment paper.
Transfer the mixture into the tray and smooth the top with a spatula.
Garnish with edible silver leaves, sliced pistachios, and dried rose petals, pressing the pistachios down gently.
Let the burfi cool to room temperature, then refrigerate for 1 to 2 hours to set.
Cut into squares or rectangles using a sharp knife.
