Ramdana Ladoo, also known as Rajgira Ladoo, is a traditional Indian sweet made during fasting periods, particularly in Hindu festivals. The use of ramdana (amaranth) flour makes it a nutritious option, rich in protein and gluten-free. These ladoos are often prepared to celebrate occasions like Navratri and are popular among those seeking healthy snack alternatives. Today, they are enjoyed year-round, appealing to both traditionalists and health-conscious individuals.

Ingredients

  • ramdana flour
  • jaggery
  • ghee
  • cardamom powder
  • nuts
  • dried fruits
  • sesame seeds
  • salt

Instructions

  1. 1Roast ramdana flour in a pan over low heat until fragrant, about 5-7 minutes.
  2. 2In a separate pan, melt ghee over low heat.
  3. 3Add jaggery to the melted ghee and stir until it dissolves completely.
  4. 4Mix in cardamom powder and a pinch of salt into the jaggery mixture.
  5. 5Combine the roasted ramdana flour with the jaggery mixture, stirring continuously to avoid lumps.
  6. 6Add chopped nuts and dried fruits to the mixture and combine well.
  7. 7Allow the mixture to cool slightly until manageable to touch.
  8. 8Grease your hands with ghee and take small portions of the mixture.
  9. 9Shape each portion into round balls (ladoo) using your palms.
