Each dish represents prosperity, happiness, and longevity, making it a time for families to gather and honor their ancestors. Popular dishes include fish for surplus, dumplings for wealth, and noodles for long life. Today, variations exist across the globe, with many adapting traditional recipes to local ingredients and tastes.

Soak 200 grams of coix seed for at least 3 hours, preferably overnight.
Prepare multi-grain rice by soaking 1.5 cups of jasmine rice, 3 tbsp jobs tears, 3 tbsp wild rice, 3 tbsp red beans, and 3 tbsp mung beans overnight.
Soak 10 grams of wood ear mushroom for 30 minutes.
Make a dry rub for the roasted lamb using 2 tbsp red dried chilies, 1/2 tsp Sichuan peppercorns, 1/2 tsp coriander seeds, a small piece of cinnamon stick, and a small piece of orange peel, toasting the spices in a wok.
Blend the toasted spices with 2 tsp roasted cumin seeds into a fine powder, reserving some for later.
Sprinkle the dry rub on 900 grams of lamb ribs and wrap them in tin foil, then refrigerate overnight.
Boil water in a pot and prepare vegetables by cutting 200 grams of asparagus beans into 2-inch pieces, 1 carrot into thin diamond shapes, and 2 stalks of celery diagonally.
Blanch asparagus beans in boiling water for 1.5 minutes, then set aside.
Blanch carrot, celery, and wood ear mushroom for 40 seconds, then combine with edamame and set aside.
Blanch cabbage stems for 1 minute, slice thinly, and set aside.
