Ingredients

  • โ—1 tbsp olive oil
  • โ—1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • โ—1/2 tsp onion powder
  • โ—1/4 tsp black pepper
  • โ—1/4 tsp salt
  • โ—1/4 cup cornstarch
  • โ—2 tbsp sesame seeds (optional)
  • โ—2 green onions, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. 1Press the tofu for at least 30 minutes to remove excess moisture.
  2. 2Preheat the oven to 400ยฐF (200ยฐC).
  3. 3Cut the pressed tofu into bite-sized cubes.
  4. 4In a bowl, mix soy sauce, maple syrup, olive oil, garlic powder, onion powder, black pepper, and salt.
  5. 5Add the tofu cubes to the marinade and let them soak for 15 minutes.
  6. 6In a separate bowl, toss the marinated tofu cubes with cornstarch until evenly coated.
  7. 7Spread the tofu cubes on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  8. 8Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, flipping halfway through, until crispy and golden brown.
  9. 9If using, sprinkle sesame seeds over the tofu during the last 5 minutes of baking.
  10. 10Remove from the oven and garnish with chopped green onions before serving.

  6. 6Add the coated tofu cubes to the skillet and cook until golden brown on all sides, about 5-7 minutes.

  8. 8In a separate bowl, mix the BBQ sauce and pineapple chunks together.
  9. 9Pour the BBQ and pineapple mixture over the crispy tofu on the baking sheet.
