Turkey Burgers

1 lb lean ground turkey breast
1/2 cup salsa
1/2 tsp salt
1/4 tsp pepper
1 tbsp oil
4 buns
1/2 cup pickles
1/4 cup chopped onion
1 cup lettuce
1/2 cup carrot slices

Wash your hands before starting.

In a bowl, combine lean ground turkey breast and salsa, mixing until incorporated.

Divide the mixture into two patties, making them thinner than beef burgers.

Season the outside of the patties with salt and pepper (and garlic salt if desired).

Heat a skillet over medium-high heat and add a small amount of oil.

Once the oil is warm, add the turkey patties to the skillet and leave them undisturbed until they naturally release from the pan, about 1-2 minutes.

After about 3 minutes, flip the patties and redistribute the oil in the skillet towards the center.

Cover the skillet with a lid and cook on medium heat until the internal temperature reaches 165°F or until juices run clear when pierced with a fork.

Prepare buns and toppings like pickles, chopped onion, lettuce, and carrot slices while the burgers finish cooking.

Serve the turkey burgers on warmed buns or in lettuce wraps, with toppings of your choice.
