Originating from Sweden, Swedish meatballs (Köttbullar) are a beloved dish that showcases the country's culinary tradition of using simple, hearty ingredients. Traditionally served with lingonberry sauce and creamy gravy, they are a staple at festive gatherings and family meals. Today, they have gained international popularity, often appearing on menus around the world, especially in Scandinavian-themed restaurants.
Grind up 1 pound 3/4 of beef and pork.
Chop shiitake mushrooms and green onions.
Mix together all spice, Chinese five spice, and salt.
In a separate bowl, mix 1 egg, 3 cloves of garlic, 3 chopped green onions, 1/4 cup of sour cream, and spices.
Incorporate the mixture into the ground meat.
Form small meatballs and place them on a baking sheet.
Bake meatballs in the oven at 375°F until browned.
Boil water and add a whole bag of egg noodles, cooking until al dente.
Strain the noodles and mix with butter to prevent sticking.
In a deep stainless steel pan, add olive oil and rehydrated shiitake mushrooms.
Add 2 cups of beef stock to the mushrooms and let simmer.
Prepare a thickening agent with butter and flour, then add to the sauce.
Stir in heavy whipping cream and additional Chinese five spice.
