The combination of sesame seeds and jaggery is not only delicious but also believed to provide warmth and energy during the colder season. Today, this treat has found its way into various global cuisines, with many variations incorporating different nuts and flavors.

Cinnamon is a common spice that enhances flavor.
Dry roast 3/4 cup sesame seeds in a small cast iron pan over low flame until golden and aromatic, about 2-3 minutes.
Dry roast nuts (almonds, pistachios, cashews) and chop them for garnish.
In a non-stick pan, add 3/4 teaspoon ghee and then add jaggery, melting it over low flame without making a syrup.
Once jaggery is completely melted, add the roasted sesame seeds and mix well to coat them evenly.
Grease silicone molds or a flat surface with ghee, add the chopped nuts to the molds, then pour the sesame and jaggery mixture on top.
Flatten the mixture with a spoon and press down with a heavy object to ensure the nuts stick to the chikki.
Allow to cool at room temperature for about 20-30 minutes before serving.
