1

Wash the guavas well and crop off the ends.

2

Cut the guavas into quarters.

3

Take a large pot, place a stand in it, and add some water.

4

Cover and cook the guavas for 5 minutes.

5

Allow the guavas to cool after cooking.

6

Grind the cooked guavas into a smooth pulp.

7

Sieve the guava pulp to remove any solids.

8

Measure the volume of the pulp collected (this gave 2 cups).

9

Add 2 cups of sugar to the pulp (1 cup sugar for 1 cup of pulp).

10

Add 2 tablespoons of lemon juice to the mixture.

11

Put the mixture on medium flame and stir to dissolve the sugar.

12

Add some food color (optional).

13

Cook the mixture until it thickens and leaves the sides of the pan, scraping the sides and bottom often.

14

To check the consistency, spoon some of the mixture and place it in cold water; it must not stick to the finger when cooled.

15

Turn off the flame and grease the mold with some oil.

16

Pour the mixture into the mold using a greased spatula, spreading and flattening the surface.

17

Let the mixture cool completely.

18

Using a sharp knife, cut the cooled mixture into desired shapes.
