4-6 garlic cloves
2 scallions/spring onions
1 tbsp butter
1/2 tsp red chilli flakes
1/2 tsp sesame oil
1 tsp sesame seeds
1/4 cup water
2 tbsp light soy sauce
1/2 tbsp dark soy sauce
1 tsp sugar
1 tsp vinegar
1 tsp cornstarch

Marinate 220g/0.5 lb shrimp with 1/4 tsp salt for 10 minutes.

In the meantime, mince 4-6 cloves of garlic and white part of 2 scallions/spring onions. Thinly slice the green tops.

Mix the sauce ingredients and set aside.

On high heat, fry shrimp with some neutral cooking oil until almost cooked. They should be done in 1-3 minutes, depending on the size of the shrimp.

Reduce flame to low, sauté garlic and scallion in 1 tbsp butter until lightly golden.

Pour in the sauce and simmer until it thickens. Add 1 tsp crushed chilli flakes for some spice.

Once the sauce has thickened to your liking, add the fried shrimp and heat it for 1 minute.

Switch off the flame and add 2 tbsp honey, 1/2 tsp sesame oil and mix well. Garnish with scallions/spring onion and sesame seeds.

Serve honey garlic shrimp with hot steamed rice. Mix everything well and enjoy!
