1

Start by marinating 1/2 kg of chicken with 1 tablespoon coriander powder, 1 tablespoon cumin powder, 1 tablespoon red chili powder, 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder, 1/2 teaspoon green chili, 2 tablespoons salt, 1 teaspoon yogurt, and 1/2 cup fried onions.

2

Add 1 large sliced tomato to the marinated chicken and mix well.

3

Include 1 tablespoon ginger-garlic paste and mix again.

4

Let the mixture marinate for 30 minutes; if short on time, you can cook it immediately.

5

In a separate pan, heat 1/2 cup cooking oil and add the marinated chicken.

6

Fry the chicken for a few minutes, then cover the pan and let it cook in its own juices for about 15-20 minutes.

7

Prepare the rice by boiling water in an open pot, adding 1 teaspoon cumin seeds, 1/4 teaspoon salt, and 2-3 green chilies.

8

Add 1/2 kg soaked basmati rice to the boiling water and cook until it's 80% done, then strain the rice.

9

Layer the biryani by placing half of the rice at the bottom of a pot, followed by the chicken mixture on top.

10

Pour any remaining liquid from the chicken over the rice, then add food color and fried onions on top.

11

Cover the pot and cook on low to medium heat for about 10 minutes, adding a splash of water if necessary.

12

After 10 minutes, check the biryani; it should be ready and fragrant.
