  • 1/2 cup popcorn kernels
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter
  • 1/4 cup light corn syrup
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1/2 cup caramel sauce

Instructions

  1. 1Pop the popcorn kernels using an air popper or on the stovetop and place them in a large bowl.
  2. 2In a saucepan over medium heat, combine the sugar, butter, corn syrup, and salt. Stir until the mixture comes to a boil.
  3. 3Once boiling, stop stirring and let it boil for 4-5 minutes until it turns a golden color.
  4. 4Remove from heat and quickly stir in the baking soda. The mixture will bubble up, so be careful.
  5. 5Pour the caramel mixture over the popped popcorn and stir to coat evenly.
  6. 6Spread the coated popcorn onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  7. 7Melt the chocolate chips in a microwave-safe bowl in 30-second intervals, stirring in between until smooth.
  8. 8Drizzle the melted chocolate over the popcorn and caramel mixture.

  6. 6Remove the amla from the syrup and place them on a greased tray or parchment paper to cool.
  7. 7If using, sprinkle desiccated coconut over the amla while they are still sticky.
  8. 8Let the amla candy cool completely and harden for a few hours.
  9. 9Once set, cut into pieces or leave whole as desired.
  10. 10Store in an airtight container.
