  • 2 lbs beef roast

  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup vegetable oil
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp dried thyme

Instructions

  1. 1Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. 2Season the beef roast with garlic powder, onion powder, black pepper, salt, and dried thyme.
  3. 3In a large oven-safe pot, heat vegetable oil over medium-high heat. Sear the beef roast on all sides until browned.
  4. 4Remove the roast from the pot and set aside. In the same pot, add the flour and stir to create a roux, cooking for about 2 minutes.
  5. 5Gradually add the beef broth and water to the roux, stirring constantly to avoid lumps.
  6. 6Return the beef roast to the pot, cover, and place it in the preheated oven. Roast for about 2 hours or until the meat is tender.
  7. 7Once the roast is done, remove it from the pot and let it rest for 10 minutes before slicing.
  8. 8While the roast is resting, add the rice to the pot with the gravy and bring to a boil. Reduce heat, cover, and simmer for 20 minutes or until the rice is cooked.
  9. 9Slice the roast beef and serve it over the rice with gravy.

  • 1 lb roast beef, thinly sliced
  • 4 hoagie rolls
  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • 1/4 cup horseradish sauce
  • 1 cup shredded lettuce
  • 1 medium tomato, sliced
  • 1/2 cup pickles, sliced
  • Salt and pepper to taste

  1. 1Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. 2Slice the hoagie rolls in half lengthwise without cutting all the way through.

  • 4 cups beef broth
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
