Swedish Cardamom Rolls

These sweet, fragrant rolls celebrate the warm spice of cardamom, which is a staple in Scandinavian baking. Today, they are enjoyed not only in Sweden but also in various countries, often adapted with local flavors and ingredients.

Honey offers natural sweetness with a distinct flavor.
Heat 2 cups of milk with 1/2 cup of brown sugar and butter on medium heat until melted.
Cool the hot milk by placing it on ice.
Add the cooled milk to the KitchenAid container and add the yeast.
Mix in flour a little at a time until the dough comes together.
Use the dough hook on low speed to combine the ingredients until it leaves the sides of the bowl.
Cover the dough and let it rise in a warm place until doubled in size, about 45 minutes to 1 hour.
Roll the risen dough into a long rope and shape into figure eights on a cookie sheet.
Let the shaped rolls rise again for 30 to 45 minutes.
Preheat the oven to 350°F.
Bake the rolls for 12 to 15 minutes, then increase the temperature to 375°F to brown them.
Butter the tops of the rolls and drizzle with honey before serving.
