1 cup or 225g of yellow split peas
2 medium onions chopped
2 medium tomatoes chopped
1 knob of garlic minced
1 tsp of turmeric powder
1 tsp of coriander powder
Salt to your test
4-6 tbs of oil
1 cup or 250ml of hot water
3-4 jalapeno peppers to finish it off (optional)
1-2 tbsp of oil to finish it off (optional)

Wash and cook the yellow split peas.

Chop the onions and tomatoes.

Mince the garlic.

In a pan, heat 4-6 tablespoons of oil.

Add the chopped onions and sauté until translucent.

Add the minced garlic and cook for a minute.

Stir in the chopped tomatoes and cook until soft.

Add turmeric powder, coriander powder, and salt to taste.

Pour in the hot water and adjust the consistency as desired.

Add the cooked yellow split peas and stir well.

Finish with chopped jalapeno peppers and an additional 1-2 tablespoons of oil if desired.
