1 and 1/2 cup red lentils
1/2 tsp turmeric
water
1 onion, finely chopped
1 tbsp chilli, ginger, garlic paste
2 tbsp oil
1 tsp cumin seeds
4-5 curry leaves
2 dried red chillies
1 - 2 tsp red chilli powder
1/2 tin chopped tomatoes
1 and 1/2 tsp Jeera Dhania powder
1/2 tsp garam masala
Handful chopped coriander
salt to taste

Boil the red lentils with water and 1/2 tsp turmeric.

Heat the oil and crackle the cumin seeds, red chillies and curry leaves.

Fry onions and chilli ginger and garlic paste until the raw smell is cooked out.

Add in the jeera dhania powder, garam masala and red chilli powder; mix well.

Add in 1/2 tin chopped tomatoes and cook until the oil separates.

Once the lentils have fully cooked, add in the tomato and spice paste and season with salt; mix well and simmer for 10 minutes on a low flame.

Give one final stir after this time and sprinkle the coriander into the dhal.
