Wash 2 cups of basmati rice to remove excess starch.
Dice 500 grams of beef into smaller pieces, about half a centimeter around.
Heat 2 tablespoons of oil in a pot over medium heat.
Add chopped onions and beef to the pot, cooking until browned.
Season with 2 teaspoons of salt, 1/2 teaspoon of black pepper, 1 teaspoon of turmeric, 1 teaspoon of curry powder, and 1/4 teaspoon of cinnamon.
Add 2 crushed garlic cloves once the meat is browned.
Pour in 1 cup of water, cover, and reduce heat to low-medium, cooking for about 30 minutes.
After 30 minutes, add 4 heaped tablespoons of tomato paste and 1 can of crushed tomatoes.
Stir in the washed rice and add 4 cups of water, mixing well.
Cover and cook on low-medium heat for 30-35 minutes until water is absorbed.
After 30 minutes, place a tea towel on top and cover with the lid, simmering on the lowest heat for another 10 minutes.
