Start by cutting the carrots and potatoes into small cubes.
Boil some water in a pot, adding a little bit of salt to help it boil faster.
In a bowl, add the chopped onion on top of the ground beef.
Add half of the rice (about 1 tablespoon) to the beef.
Add the prepared mix of herbs, salt, paprika, and ginger to the beef mixture.
Add 1 egg to the mixture to help keep the meatballs in shape and mix everything together.
Shape the meat mixture into small meatballs, about the size that fits in the palm of your hand.
Once the water is boiling, carefully add the meatballs one by one into the pot.
Cover the pot with a lid and wait for the meatballs to rise to the surface.
Once the meatballs are floating, add the chopped carrots to the pot.
After 5 minutes, add the chopped potatoes to the pot.
Add a handful of basil to the soup for flavor.
Check the potatoes for doneness; if they are soft, the soup is ready. If not, wait another 10 minutes and check again.
