Coconut oil is a healthier fat option.
Cut butter into small pieces and microwave until melted.
Let the melted butter cool for about 5 minutes until it's not hot.
In a bowl, combine the melted butter, milk, egg, salt, and sugar; mix well to dissolve the sugar.
Add yeast to the mixture and mix again.
Cover the bowl with a plate and let it sit for 5 to 10 minutes until bubbly.
Add all-purpose flour and mix until there are no dry patches of flour.
If the dough is difficult to mix, use your hands to combine it thoroughly.
Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and let the dough rise on the counter for 2 hours.
After 2 hours, shape the dough into a ball and grease the bowl before placing the dough back in.
Cover the dough with a double layer of plastic wrap and refrigerate overnight.
The next day, remove the dough from the fridge; it should have risen slightly.
Place the dough onto a floured work surface and roll it out.
Cut the dough into donut shapes and place them on squares of parchment paper.
Cover the donuts and let them rise for about 45 minutes.
Preheat oil to 360 degrees Fahrenheit (180 degrees Celsius).
Carefully place the donuts into the hot oil, being careful not to overcrowd the pan.
Fry the donuts for about 2 minutes on each side until golden brown; adjust the heat if they become too dark.
Transfer the fried donuts to a wire rack to cool.
To make the glaze, combine melted butter, milk, vanilla extract, and powdered sugar until smooth.
Glaze the warm donuts completely and let them set on a wire rack.
