1

Welcome to Backyard Chef. I'm Rick. Today we're doing Mongolian beef noodles.

2

Dice an onion and slice it instead of dicing for better texture in the noodles.

3

Mash a clove of garlic and chop it up to add to the dish.

4

Use storebought hoisin sauce for convenience.

5

Boil water for the noodles, then add dried noodles and bring back to a boil.

6

Once boiling, turn off the heat and let the noodles sit in the hot water to soften.

7

In a pan, add a bit of oil and ground beef, breaking it up as it cooks.

8

Add white pepper to the beef for flavor.

9

Stir the noodles occasionally to separate them while they sit.

10

Once the beef is cooked and water has evaporated, add the sliced onions to the pan.

11

After the onions soften, add the garlic and stir to cook it briefly without burning.

12

Prepare a corn starch slurry with 1 tablespoon of corn starch and 2 tablespoons of water.

13

Add brown sugar, soy sauce, and hoisin sauce to the beef and onion mixture, stirring well.

14

Drain the noodles and add a couple of drops of sesame oil to prevent sticking.

15

Combine the noodles with the beef mixture, stirring to coat everything in the sauce.

16

Add chili flakes to taste, then serve with green onion and roasted sesame on top.
